Edgmont Township is a Township of the Second Class, approximately 9.8 square miles in area and 4,283 residents (Based on 2020 Census data). Edgmont is located in the north-central portion of Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Its northern boundary is on the Delaware County-Chester County line where it lies adjacent to Westtown and Willistown Townships, Chester County.
In Delaware County it is bordered by Thornbury Township on the west, Middletown Township on the south, and Upper Providence Township on the southeast. On the east, the Township is bordered by Crum Creek, the Springton Reservoir, and Newtown Township.
The Edgmont Township Business and Professional Association was created to establish a liaison between the business community, the Township, and the residents. To improve and promote the unique character of the community of Edgmont Township as a place to live, work and raise a family.
Our primary vision is to demonstrate that our community of business leaders, professionals, and residents are served by unique, sensational, and renowned shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as the availability of many highly rated professional services. We hope to foster growth, neighbor to neighbor while creating and raising awareness of professional relationships in Edgmont.
Edgmont Township Fire Company No.1 was founded in 1942 and is an integral part of our community. Our founding members had a vision of service and we’ve been building on it every since. The cultural strengths shared amongst our members are:

Newtown Edgmont Little League (NELL) is a volunteer-directed, 501(c)(3) non-profit and a proudly chartered Local League of Little League International, the world’s largest organized youth sports organization. NELL’s mission is to instill in their players the value of sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and courage; so that they continue their development as respectful, well-adjusted, strong, and happy children. They accomplish this by engaging the families and residents of Newtown Edgmont to promote a culture where boys and girls aged 4 through 12 of all playing abilities learn to appreciate and love playing the great game of baseball. NELL combines its community landmark status with a storied history to fuel near continuous enhancement to the infrastructure of their complex. NELL encourages all young residents of Newtown or Edgmont townships or any child attending school within its borders to participate as a player. Come be a part of the tradition!
The Newtown Square Business Association was formed in May of 1976 by a group of local business people who recognized the need for coordinated action on behalf of the business community. The organization is governed by the Constitution and By-Laws created in 1976, and officers are elected annually from the membership at large. NSBA has filed articles of Incorporation with the State of Pennsylvania, and has been granted non-profit status by the IRS. Its purpose is to act in the best interests of all members and to engage in such activities that would lead to the improvement and encouragement of doing business in Newtown Square.
Welcome to the Newtown Square Historical Society. Founded in 1981 by civic minded residents, the society continues its mission to preserve the rich history of Newtown Township. They offer multiple programs to reach out to their community, volunteer opportunities for residents of all ages and events throughout the year at their many historic locations. The mission of the Newtown Public Library is to encourage the joy of reading, the exploration of ideas, and the pursuit of lifelong learning for all.
After a resolution passed by the Supervisors of Newtown Township in August 1973, the Newtown Public Library opened on July 15, 1974 at 3129 West Chester Pike with 3,000 books in a 500 square feet space. Less than two years later, the library moved to the Acme Shopping Center where it operated for over 25 years.
After a great effort by volunteers, the current 9,000 sq. foot library was built and opened in 2003. The library has seen many changes throughout the years but continues to grow with the community.
Newtown Township is privileged to serve over 12,000 residents. Their excellent business base with headquarters for businesses such as SAP, Project Management Institute, Apple Vacations, Boiron, most recently Equus Capital Partners and coming soon AmeriHealth complement our local business association which together have continued to be a strong economic driver in the region. They are proud of their neighborhoods with quaint cottages as well as large estates which foster the family friendly community valued by all. Activities such as little league baseball, youth soccer and lacrosse and Petticoat softball for the young, children reading programs and senior and historical presentations. There are always many outlets for entertainment and service in Newtown Township. Visit their Library and township building, walk their parks or contact a Supervisor to volunteer for a board or just to talk about ideas. This is what makes Newtown a strong and tight woven tapestry of people of which they are all very proud!
